Sport and Play
Our focus on academic achievement is balanced with a recognition of the importance of play and physical activity. We believe in giving our children space to enjoy their childhood without pressure to grow up too quickly.
Play provides children with the opportunity to develop their social skills and their imaginations as well as experiencing teamwork and the importance of inclusion. Supervised playtime takes place during morning breaks, lunchtimes and after school with different areas of the school grounds focused towards different age groups to appeal to all children. Recent investment in extra play equipment has enhanced the garden play space for Pre-Prep children, and a number of outdoor resources have also been purchased to develop our quieter areas of the playground.
Our Prep School sporting facilities were also enhanced in 2016 with the transformation of a former playground into an outstanding, enclosed astro-turf pitch and netball court. Prep School has full use of the main school grounds, which are marked out for rugby, football, crickets, athletics and rounders depending upon the season, as well as the all-weather pitches and netball courts.
From Year 3 onwards, swimming lessons take place in the school’s heated indoor swimming pool.
