Arrange a Visit
Please note that, because of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, some of the information and events outlined below may be subject to change.
We invite all families who are interested in Barnard Castle School to come and enjoy a personalised visit. We welcome requests to meet with either the Headmaster, Mr Tony Jackson, or Mrs Laura Turner, Headmistress of the Prep School, and to be taken on a tour of the school by our pupils. For prospective day pupils, visits typically take 1.5 hours; for boarding pupils, it is nearer 2 hours as your visit will include a tour of the boarding house and a chance to meet the boarding Houseparent.
To arrange your visit, please contact our Registrar on:
+44 (0)1833 696 030 or email: email@example.com
The entrance exam dates for 2021 admissions are to be confirmed. Further details will be provided in due course.
We hold a number of open events and opportunities for families to visit informally, although we recommend that you book an appointment in advance.
Open Events 2020/2021
Our Open Events for the 2020/2021 school year are to be confirmed. Further details will be provided in due course.
Pupils currently taking their GCSEs, who would like to see what Sixth Form life is like at the school, are welcome to shadow one of our pupils already in the Lower Sixth. Wherever possible, we will arrange for pupils to join lessons in their chosen A Level subjects.
New Pupils’ Day
This is typically held in June and is an opportunity for new pupils across all the year groups to meet their peers and their Housemaster/Mistress. They spend the day in school. Parents are invited to use the opportunity to ask any questions of school staff.

New pupils and parents of Senior School meet the evening before term starts, to follow on from their induction at the end of the Trinity Term, and it is an opportunity to ask any final questions as well as mingle with other new parents’ and pupils’ before term begins.
