Preppies enjoy a wonderful trip to Acorn Dairy

29 Feb 2024

Today, the Year 4 children were given a fantastic opportunity to visit a local farm, Acorn Dairy, to develop their understanding of where some of our foods come from; specifically of dairy products from calf to bottle.

Preppies saw the herd in their winter habitat, before moving to the milking shed where we witnessed the cows being milked for the second time. A particular highlight for the children was seeing the calves, where they were able to stroke them and have their fingers sucked. The children were in awe of the number of bottles being filled in the bottling shed and the unique packaging in which the butter is presented.

A huge thank you to Graham, Caroline and the wider Acorn Dairy team for giving the children such a warm and informative afternoon.
