Barney Remembers – Remembrance Day 2023

11 Nov 2023

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

Today, we pay tribute to those from across the Barney community who serve, or have served, in the Armed Forces.

Most importantly, we remember the 209 Old Barnardians and all military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Our full coverage from yesterday’s poignant Service of Remembrance, where the Whole School paid their respects, can be viewed by following the link above.

As a further show of respect during the service, a single cross was planted first by Mr Gedye to mark the loss of our beloved former colleague, Martyn Lewis, who died suddenly last week.

A reminder to members of our wider Barney and local communities that we will be hosting a Remembrance Service tomorrow, Sunday, 12th November at 10.45am in Chapel, followed by a civic ceremony at The Bowes Museum War Memorial.

All are welcome in Big School for refreshments upon the conclusion of the civic ceremony.

Lest we forget.
