Ancient History trip to Vindolanda and Chesters – 12th October 2023

12 Oct 2023

By Erin W, Year 13

The Upper Sixth Ancient History Students ventured to Vindolanda and Chesters to learn more about Roman Britain, specifically to focus on archaeological and inscriptional evidence.

We got to study the inscriptions  of the Clayton collection at Chesters and toured the fort.

In the afternoon, we visited Vindolanda and focussed on the evidence for life in Roman Britain that is provided by the famous writing tablets. The weather was very kind and everyone had a very enjoyable and interesting day.
