A Celebration of Youth at Durham Cathedral, 5th March 202306 Mar 2023
Staff and cadets from Barney were honoured to attend a Celebration of Youth service held in Durham Cathedral yesterday.
The purpose was to celebrate young people and in particular youth leadership, the importance of youth participation and the contribution of the adult volunteers that support them. The Reverend Canon Michael Hampel and the Mayor of Durham spoke highly about the impact that young people play in the development of society and the stewardship of our world.
It was a special occasion for our contingent as Barney was the only CCF invited to attend the service, highlighting our standing as one of the North’s leading contingents. The event also marked the final official duty for Year 12 student, sergeant Henry T, as His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant cadet of County Durham.
For the seven cadets who were invited to attend, it gave them a wonderful experience, alongside other representatives from uniformed and non-uniformed youth organisations from all across the Durham Lieutenancy. The officials at the cathedral were highly complementary of the values and standards that our cadets displayed throughout the service.
