CCF Exercise: Battle of Barney

30 May 2022

Several members of Barney’s CCF got their Half Term holidays off to an action-packed start, as cadets and staff descended on nearby Warcop for CCF Exercise: Battle of Barney last weekend.

Split into three sections, cadets’ field skills were immediately put to the test as they set up camp, prepared ration packs and carried out a series of patrols, before sleeping under their bashas ready for an early start and further adventures.

Rising early on Saturday morning, the contingent were put through more tactical exercises around their camp; setting ambushes on the enemy, patrolling the picturesque environment and organising section attacks. Perhaps the highlight of the day was the 10.30pm night navigation and assault on the enemy forces.

The final day saw the culmination of all the training, exercises and skills cadets had learnt over the weekend as they stormed an enemy building, securing all three floors in an efficient and impressive manner.

Well done to all cadets for braving the elements and pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones and many thanks to our staff and wider friends for organising and delivering such an amazing experience.

We hope you enjoy our short video of the weekend!
