Junior Maths success!

Many congratulations to several of our junior mathematicians who are celebrating continued success.

We are delighted to share a series of impressive results in the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, which pupils in Years 7 and 8 sat earlier this term. In addition, we are particularly thrilled to have a qualifier for the Junior Maths Olympiad for the first time in several years.

Alexander is ‘Best in Year’ and has qualified for the Junior Kangaroo follow-on round which places him within the top 4% of the country.

Taiyo is ‘Best in School’ with an incredible score of 130 out of 135 and has been invited to participate in the Junior Maths Olympiad next month, which places him within the top 0.5% of the country.

Furthermore, Mr Robson recently attended the Newcastle University Maths Challenge Awards with some of our Year 8 prize winners – the first in person presentation evening for three years.

In the Junior Challenge (Years 7 & 8) there were over 450 entries from across the region, for which Barney pupils received five awards, which is an excellent performance out of only 48 awards given.
