Founders’ Day

Today (11th February 2022) we remember and give thanks to the people who laid the foundations for Barney 139 years ago.
To commemorate the occasion, we will be hosting Prep and Senior School Chapel services bringing together staff, pupils, parents and friends to honour our founders’ memories and everyone else throughout our rich history who has supported and developed Barney into the School we are today.
It was in 1883 when our School was established, funded mainly by Benjamin Flounders and John Balliol, and, from our humble beginnings, Barney has grown into one of the North’s leading independent schools.
This will be the first time since 2020 that we have been able to host our Founders’ Day services, physically, and we are very much looking forward to seeing everyone over the course of today.
