Senior Public Speaking – House Competition

10 Jun 2021
(L-R) Alex, Carl, Evie and Henry with Mr Jackson, who adjudicated the event

Well done to all Barnardians who delivered excellent, articulated speeches during last evening’s hugely-anticipated Senior Public Speaking House Competition.

As ever, it was a keenly contested affair, with several rousing speeches covering topics ranging from ecofeminism and memory making to ‘when the world ends’.

Mr Jackson, the event’s adjudicator, was tasked with the very difficult job of declaring the evening’s best speaker and overall winning House.

Many congratulations to Carl, Henry and Alex who prevailed as the winning team, representing York House, while Evie, of Bowes House, awarded the best speaker prize. Impressively, Carl and Henry, who both originate from Germany, spoke extremely well in their second languages, as did all other International Students.

Senior Public Speaking is one of Barney’s flagship House Competitions, which we were delighted to safely host for members of our Sixth Form bubble.

We look forward to hosting next year’s competition, as well as all other competitions, which form a large part of our comprehensive calendar of events.
