Congratulations, Lindy!

06 May 2021

Despite not winning the Boarding Schools’ Association’s Stephen Winkley Award, we are incredibly proud of Lindy Themistocleous, our beloved Senior Boys’ Boarding House Matron.

To be a finalist is a magnificent achievement, in what is a keenly contested award with entrants from boarding schools all over the world.

Lindy’s recognition is fully deserved, who, alongside her boarding colleagues, work incredibly hard to ensure our boarders are cared for and looked after each and every day, even more so during these unprecedented times.

Speaking about her shortlisting, Lindy said: “I would like to thank Mr Jackson, Mr Lavery and members of the SMT for the nomination for the BSA Stephen Winkley Award. I feel so honoured and humbled that my name was put forward; making the final three made me feel like a winner – win or lose.

“I would also like to thank Mr Monument, as I could not do what I do without his encouragement and help throughout the year.  You have been amazing and I am blessed to have such a wonderful Housemaster.

“To all my boys in the boarding house – it’s because of you that I love what I do. You have all been amazing and each and every one of you has a special place in my heart.”

She added: “I would also like to thank Mrs Notman and her Domestic Services team, Mr Baker and his wonderful staff in the dining hall, Mr Blakemore and his team of ‘Green men’ and the Medical Staff. You all have contributed so much to the wellbeing of the boys and the boarding house.

“To the Tutors, thank you for all you do – it is really appreciated.

“It goes without saying that being part of our wonderful Barney Community has been incredible and I thank you so much for believing in me and making me feel part of this wonderful school. Thank you, Lindy.”
