Barney Sixth Formers celebrate debating Hat trick!

30 Apr 2021

We are delighted to share that today two members of our Sixth Form completed a hat trick of debating match wins to secure the Debating Matters April Public Policy Championship!

Upper Sixth student Matthew and Lower Sixth pupil Anna won the final debating match of the competition this afternoon, beating Burnley College in another keenly contested debate. They were tasked with arguing ‘For’ “Monuments to controversial historical figures should remain”.

Their success follows victories earlier in the week from Vato and Henry, who won their debating match against Queen Mary’s College, as well as Anna and Sam’s success in their match against The Ecclesbourne School.

Furthermore, well done to Anna, who was named the ‘Best Individual’ of the championships and Matthew, who was given an ‘Honourable Mention’.

Once again, many congratulations to Anna, Matthew, Vato, Henry and Sam for their outstanding performances in this prestigious competition!
