Barney musicians celebrate awards ‘hat trick’!

Three of our promising musicians are celebrating after receiving prestigious awards and recognition in the recent Barnard Castle Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year Competition.

Upper Sixth student Evie was awarded Best Overall Instrumentalist and the Patricia Hartness Prize for coming first in the competition overall, with Lois, a Year 11 pupil, recognised as Best Overall Singer.

Year 9 pupil and keen guitarist, Ethan, was awarded Second Place in the 12-14 Instrumentalist Category. 

Their success coincides with the upcoming ‘Concert for Kenya’, which they have helped organise with their peers and members of the Music Department. The event is in aid of the ‘Masks4Kenya’ charity campaign.

You will have the opportunity to see all three musicians and other talented Barney students perform at the concert, which takes place this Friday 12^th March 2021 from 6.30pm.
