Masks4Kenya update

25 Feb 2021

Well done to all Barnardians who either have completed or are preparing to carry out challenges and organise events in aid of the Masks4Kenya campaign.

So far, pupils and those within our community have raised just shy of £5,000 for this amazing cause – fantastic news!

Here is a brief roundup of the various initiatives spearheaded by our pupils in their respective Houses:

  • Girls from Bowes House have collectively completed a Coast to Coast challenge;
  • Dale House pupils and staff have collectively ran/cycled the distance from Barney to Kipsaina, Kenya;
  • Durham House pupils have done ‘keepy uppys’ amounting to the distance from Barney to Kenya;
  • The ladies of Longfield have ‘travelled’ from Land’s End to John o’ Groats;
  • The boys of Northumberland and York Houses have ‘scaled’ Mount Kenya;
  • Tees House pupils (and Mr Fairwood) and stayed cool after completing their ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’.

 In addition:

  • Marwood House is hosting a charity Bingo night on the 3rd March;
  • Barney Music is organising a ‘Concert for Kenya’ on 12th March – further details can be found on the @music_barney Instagram or Twitter profiles.

As ever, thank you to everyone in our community for your continued support of our pupils’ endeavours, all of which will make a massive difference to schoolchildren in Kenya.
