Barnardians received an early Christmas present this morning, as we welcomed one of the UK’s leading entrepreneurs to Barney for a series of inspirational talks.

Peter Higgins, co-founder of Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts and director of Mary’s Meals, delivered inspiring assemblies to each of our year group bubbles about his successful career in business and with charities.

Peter discussed his early years in business and how he has supported the growth of Charles Tyrwhitt to become an international brand and the challenges he and his colleagues have faced over time.

His socially distant visit was of even greater significance as he sits on the Board of Mary’s Meals, which is Barney’s chosen charity for the academic year, and offered pupils and staff the opportunity to learn more about its crucial work.

The charity supports some of the world’s poorest countries by providing life-changing meals to children suffering the effects of extreme poverty. For further details about Mary’s Meals, visit its website here.

Later this week, on Friday and Saturday, we are hosting two Christmas jumper days in aid of this amazing charity, following on from Friday’s bake sale – thank you to everyone in the Barney Community for your generosity.

We are grateful to Peter for visiting Barney and look forward to continuing our support of Mary’s Meals.
