We were delighted to welcome Group Captain David Jones to County Durham today, who inspected our Combined Cadet Force (CCF).

Gp Capt Jones was welcomed by Headmaster Tony Jackson, Major Caroline Connor and WO1 Martyn Lewis as well the school’s entire CCF contingent, as he visited the RAF and Army elements of Barney’s CCF operations.

Over the course of the day, Gp Capt Jones observed the cadets performing training drills and activities, culminating in a final parade and awards ceremony.

Speaking of the visit, Major Caroline Connor said: “We were delighted to show Gp Capt Jones around Barney, which was a great experience for our CCF contingent.

“It is vitally important to go through these biennial audits, in addition to our own rigorous, internal inspections and regular reviews of our processes. We are proud to have once again passed such an inspection from someone of Gp Capt Jones’ stature.

“I am incredibly proud of our cadets, who always strive to improve and show great dedication to training and the overall CCF experience. Their duties within the contingent complement their academic commitments at Barney, further developing their character and vital soft skills.”
