Meet two of our longstanding boarders: brother and sister, Edward and Georgie, as we look ahead to National Boarding Day 2019 this weekend.

The pair have been at Barney since Year 4 and are well known throughout the school, participating in many co-curricular activities including CCF, Hockey and Rugby. The Year 13s are also Heads of their respective houses, Longfield and Northumberland.

Speaking about her experiences at Barney, Georgie said: “It was hard our second year, when things hit home a little, but I’m really glad we’re boarding because it has equipped us with independence and the life skills that will be crucial in later life.

Edward added: “Boarding at Barney has a real family feel to it and is very close-knit. We mix with everyone and the teachers don’t treat you like a child, so it doesn’t feel like you’re at school at all, at times!”

After Barney, Georgie is planning to study Law at university, while Edward, who is going to take a year out, hopes to study Agriculture.

All the very best for the remainder of the school year and with your future plans, both!
