Barnard Castle School’s U14 netball team has secured a place at the National Finals following an outstanding performance at the Regional Finals on Saturday.
Competing against a strong and highly competitive field, the team rose to the challenge with confidence and composure. Through disciplined play and sustained effort, they finished top of the regional standings. This is an achievement that reflects the quality of their preparation and commitment throughout the season.
The result means the team will now represent the school at the National Finals in Sheffield on Saturday 21st March. Qualification at this level marks a significant milestone and places the squad among the strongest school netball teams in the country.
Beyond the result itself, the team impressed with the way they conducted themselves throughout the day. Their teamwork and resilience stood out, particularly in high-pressure moments, and reflected the strong values that underpin sport at Barney.

This latest success is the result of consistent effort on and off the court. Training sessions have focused on developing technical skills, game understanding, and confidence, while also encouraging leadership and accountability within the squad. The players’ willingness to learn and improve has played a key role in their progress.
The whole school community is immensely proud of the team’s achievement. We look forward to supporting them as they prepare for the National Finals. Their journey so far has been inspiring, and they now have the opportunity to test themselves on the national stage.
Nationals await, and the U14 netball team will travel to Sheffield with belief, momentum, and the full support of Barnard Castle School community behind them. Nationals, we’re ready for you!
