On Saturday, the 17th of January 2026, Barnard Castle School Combined Cadet Force hosted its biannual Regimental Dinner Night in the main school building. The venue was arranged in the traditional style of a British Military Dinner Night, complete with formal dining layouts and table centrepieces, creating an appropriately ceremonial atmosphere.
The evening provided an opportunity for the contingent to welcome back former senior cadets, express gratitude to those who support and enable the training programme, and formally dine with Mr David Cresswell. During the evening, speeches were delivered by WO2 Ben Harbottle (School Staff Instructor), Mr David Cresswell (Headmaster), and Capt Barry Imms (Contingent Commander).
Formal presentations were made to recognise the commitment and support of members of the Cadet Training Team, including the presentation of the Dinning-Cooke Sword of Honour to Cadet WO1 RSM Livia C.
The Regimental Dinner Night remains an important event within the Contingent calendar. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the past two years, bring together friends and families, and recognise the dedication of those whose continued support makes cadet training possible.
The evening was a resounding success, made possible through the unwavering commitment and organisation of WO2 Ben Harbottle.
