Pupils from Years 7–10 at Barnard Castle School enjoyed an unforgettable start to the Easter holidays with the annual ski trip to Bardonecchia.
Set against the stunning backdrop of the Italian Alps, the trip offered five full days on the slopes, with pupils making the most of excellent conditions throughout the week. Glorious sunshine accompanied each day, creating ideal skiing weather and adding an extra layer of joy to the trip.
From beginners finding their confidence on the nursery slopes to more experienced skiers refining their technique on longer runs, pupils showed enthusiasm and a willingness to challenge themselves. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, many made impressive progress over the course of the week.
As always, the trip was about more than just skiing. Pupils embraced the social side of the experience, with plenty of laughter and memorable moments along the way. A highlight for many was the appearance of the much-loved ‘Shrek of the Slopes’, a light-hearted tradition following the Liability Award.
There was also time to enjoy the surrounding area, including an exhilarating alpine coaster ride through the mountains. This added an extra element of adventure and gave pupils the opportunity to experience the landscape in a different way.
The success of the trip was made possible by the support of staff and partners. Thanks go to GB Tours for organising the experience, as well as to the ski instructors and Barnard Castle School staff who guided and supported pupils throughout.
