Barney pupils celebrate outstanding LAMDA results with record distinctions, merits, and medal achievements

Standing ovation for Barney pupils’ record-breaking LAMDA success

Pupils at Barnard Castle School are celebrating record success following their recent London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examinations, achieving the School’s largest and most successful set of results to date.

Across the cohort, pupils secured an outstanding 31 Distinctions and 20 Merits. This contributed to a remarkable total of 116 UCAS points. The results reflect the dedication and confidence pupils have developed through the LAMDA programme, alongside the continued support and guidance of staff.

This year’s results also included several notable medal achievements. Gold Medals were awarded to Mila J. and Jess R., both achieving Distinction at the highest level. Bronze Medals were awarded to Grace B. with Merit, Olivia W. with Distinction, Ayla R. with Distinction, Emily H. with Distinction, and Megan E. with Merit.

LAMDA qualifications play an important role in helping pupils develop far more than performance skills alone. Through the programme, students build confidence in public speaking, communication, presentation, and self-expression. All of these support academic progress and personal development across wider school life.

The examinations require discipline and consistent preparation, making the achievements even more impressive. Pupils demonstrated real commitment throughout the process, balancing rehearsals and preparation alongside their wider academic and co-curricular responsibilities.

These exceptional outcomes continue Barney’s strong tradition in drama and performance. They also highlight the talent and ambition within the School’s performing arts community. The success of this year’s cohort reflects both individual hard work and the supportive environment that encourages pupils to challenge themselves creatively.

Congratulations to all pupils who took part in the examinations. Their achievements mark a proud moment for the School and a fitting celebration of the confidence and creativity fostered through LAMDA.
