We are proud to announce an exciting new partnership between our Summer Rugby Academy and Newcastle University Sport, giving students a unique opportunity to experience elite university sporting environments and gain a greater insight into the pathways available within rugby beyond school.
As part of the academy programme, participants will visit Newcastle University’s outstanding sporting facilities, including the renowned Cochrane Park pitches, where they will take part in training sessions within a high-performance environment.
Students will also have access to the university’s flagship indoor facilities, including the strength and conditioning gym and sports hall, helping them to better understand the demands and preparation involved in modern performance sport.
Alongside the practical elements of the visit, students will take part in an educational workshop delivered by university specialists, designed to provide valuable insight into athlete development and university sport.
The experience will also include a dedicated session exploring the life of a Newcastle University student-athlete, offering students the chance to learn more about balancing academic studies with competitive rugby and the opportunities available through higher education.
The partnership is designed to enhance the overall Summer Rugby Academy experience, combining on-field development with off-field learning and inspiration. By connecting students with one of the region’s leading university sporting programmes, we hope to give aspiring rugby players a clearer understanding of the opportunities and pathways that exist within the game.
This exciting collaboration reflects our continued commitment to providing students with exceptional sporting experiences and opportunities to develop both personally and athletically.
