Meet the experienced and dedicated leadership team and school governors serving our student community. Our leadership team combines experience, vision and dedication, ensuring that the school continues to thrive.

David Cresswell
Headmaster
Growing up around the world as the son of a Foreign Office diplomat, I developed a deep appreciation for different cultures and a love of languages, shaped by classrooms full of diverse nationalities.
I returned to the UK for boarding school, arriving as a keen sportsman and leaving as a Drama Scholar. I read Modern Languages at Oxford University, where I captained the Men’s Hockey team in the Varsity Match (despite defeat to Cambridge!). I began teaching at Cranleigh School, later becoming Head of German and a Deputy Housemaster at Radley College, where I also coached the 1st XI hockey and led the tennis programme.
After a spell as Head of Sixth Form at Barnard Castle School, I became Senior Deputy Headmaster at Whitgift School in London before returning to Barney as Headmaster. My wife is a local GP, and our children are proud members of the Prep School. Inspired by my own teachers, I believe in weaving ambition, positivity and a growth mindset into school life.
