Barnard Castle School offers an ideal location for filming. Our school played a significant part in the final series of ITV’s long-running and much-loved detective series, Vera. We have an excellent blend of old and new.

Barnard Castle School provided a striking backdrop for recent filming of ITV’s Vera, highlighting our unique character and versatility.
Our main school building was founded in 1883 and still boasts historic elements, such as our wood-panelled dining hall, whilst also having the addition of the modern Sixth Form Centre.
Our extensive grounds add another element to our site, sitting on 50 acres. We offer flexibility and diversity for any film crew, regardless of the nature of the filming.
Our dedicated Lettings Co-ordinator, Judith Pepper, will oversee your arrangements and be on hand should you need assistance at any time during your stay.
