Remembering OB Chris Dent

Remembering OB Chris Dent

Barney’s Senior School community observed a poignant Chapel service this morning as we collectively remembered OB Chris Dent.

Captain Dent gave the ultimate sacrifice 40 years ago this week during the conflicts in the Falkland Islands, specifically at the Battle of Goose Green on 28 May 1982.

A student of Durham House, Chris studied at Barney from 1959 until 1966, where he was a prominent member of our CCF and Police cadets, as well as earned full colours in swimming.

Upon leaving Barney, he was commissioned into The Parachute Regiment in 1974 and his postings, prior to becoming second in command A Company 2 PARA, included a tour as a platoon commander with Junior Parachute Company.

Captain Chris Dent is survived by his wife Cathy, also an officer in the British Army, and son Robbie.

Lest we forget.
