The final performance of Chicago took place recently, bringing to a close a spectacular run of this year’s Senior School production at Barnard Castle School.
From the opening number to the final curtain, the show delivered heaps of energy and confidence. Pupils performed with real presence on stage, combining strong acting with sharp choreography and assured vocals. The production maintained a high standard throughout, with a clear sense of teamwork and cohesion across the cast.
The success of Chicago reflected not only the talent on stage but also the dedication behind the scenes. Rehearsals demanded sharp focus and close collaboration, with pupils balancing their preparation alongside a busy academic term. But it’s safe to say that the results speak for themselves, with a production that has captivated audiences throughout its run.
The technical team also played a key role in bringing the production to life. Lighting, sound, and stage management all ran smoothly throughout, allowing each performance to flow seamlessly. Their professionalism supported the cast and tied everything together beautifully.
The live orchestra also made us all proud, providing a dynamic and high-quality score that underpinned the energy of the performance. Their musicianship added astonishing depth and atmosphere, elevating each scene and number.
Special recognition must go to Mr Edwards, whose leadership and commitment shaped the production from start to finish. His direction brought together all elements of the show, creating a production that was as ambitious as it was accomplished.
Chicago has been a memorable highlight of the school year. It showcased the strength of performing arts at Barnard Castle School and provided pupils with the opportunity to develop their confidence and creativity at a high level. Congratulations to the entire cast and crew!
