The Barney boarding community is a warm and friendly ‘home away from home’. We understand every family’s needs are different, so we offer families as much flexibility as possible to access our boarding accommodation.
Barney offers flexible, modern boarding options, all with comfort, structure, and a strong sense of community.
All Boarders, regardless of boarding type, enjoy their own bed in our recently refurbished boarding houses, all meals, a structured day including homework study (Prep) and plenty of time for socialising with their friends. There are three ways students can board at Barney.
Full boarding
This is the complete experience. Students have a full-time home in school for the duration of each term. Our newly renovated boarding accommodation offers safe, warm and comfortable surroundings for children ages 7 to 18 across our four Boarding Houses. This option is suitable for families needing consistent care and for those who want their children fully immersed in school life and activities.
Weekly boarding
Students stay at school during the week and return home on weekends. This option provides a balance between school and family life, allowing for more family time while still benefiting from the boarding experience during the week.
Flexi-/occasional boarding
This is a more flexible option where students can stay at school on a less frequent basis, such as a few nights a week or for specific nights when needed. Occasional boarding, a form of flexi-boarding, allows for ad-hoc stays, perhaps just once a term. Flexi-boarding is useful for families who may need occasional boarding due to work commitments or other circumstances.
