On Thursday 21st May, we were delighted to welcome next year’s incoming Reception Class and their families for a special Stay & Play morning ahead of the new academic year.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity for children to begin exploring their new surroundings, meet future classmates, and start building confidence ahead of September. Reception marks such an important stage in a child’s educational journey, laying the foundations for friendships and a lifelong love of learning.
Throughout the morning, the children enthusiastically explored the classroom, outdoor learning spaces, and play area, already beginning to make themselves at home within the Barney community. There was a fantastic atmosphere as pupils discovered new activities and enjoyed spending time in their new environment.
Families also had the chance to meet staff and get to know one another better, helping to build the strong sense of community that is such an important part of life at Barney. The morning finished with everyone enjoying a delicious fruit snack together, rounding off a relaxed and enjoyable event.
With the year group now very nearly full, it was especially exciting to welcome so many new faces and begin sharing in the journey ahead. Staff are already looking forward to supporting the children as they begin their Reception adventure in September.
The Stay & Play session was a lovely reminder of how important those first experiences of school can be in helping children feel happy, confident and excited for the future.
