We are lucky to have such a strong ‘Barney Community’, and this is an exciting time of growth. Our aim is to keep the Barney network of alumni, current and former parents, current and former staff and the wider family connected to the School and each other, for the mutual benefit of all.

Join over 5,000 Old Barnardians worldwide through our friendly network, offering support, events, and lasting connections with the Barney community.
Over 5,000 Old Barnardians comprise our global network, residing in more than 40 countries worldwide, and regularly stay in touch with the Development Office and the OB Club.
All Old Barnardians become members of the Club when they leave the school. The school works very closely with the Club, which is run by a committee made up of volunteer Old Barnardians aged from 22 to 92. The Club Committee uses the donations it receives to support vital work, such as philanthropic noticeable gifts to the school.
The amazing network we call the Barnardian Society is the umbrella term that welcomes OBs, current parents, former parents, former and current staff and wider friends of Barney. We love to support recent leavers as they progress to university and take the first steps in their careers, but we also facilitate connections for older OBs who may be seeking opportunities in business. There are numerous ways to engage in a variety of social occasions or simply reconnect with friends from school days and share in nostalgia.
Since 2022, we’ve been delivering a transformed calendar of regular events, including regional and international socials, dinners, and networking get-togethers, all around the world, with the Barney welcome you all know and love!
The School’s Development Office and Old Barnardians’ Club collaborate on events and initiatives to benefit the community and help support the future development of the school.
Our OBs and wider family have their own website, offering you the opportunity to share your news, register and purchase tickets for our fantastic events, offer to be a speaker for our careers department, mentor our students and much more.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Guidance that grows with you
Careers & mentoring
We are proud to offer every Old Barnardian lifelong support as they navigate university choices, early career steps, and professional development advice. Our thriving OB network is an active and generous community with former students supporting one another across a wide range of industries.
We are equally proud that so many Old Barnardians return to Barney to share their expertise – from speaking to students about their careers to delivering inspiring talks through our Headspace series. This involvement enriches the experience of current students and younger OBs.

Shaping generations
Fundraising
Success in life and impact on the world has always been about more than grades – the rich variety and history of Old Barnardians is surely testament to this. Barney has long focused on developing young people of character, individuals with the confidence, compassion, creativity and humanity to make a real difference in our ever-changing world.
Moreover, providing access to children, regardless of their means, has been part of Barney since 1881 when the first governing document enshrined this purpose in the School. If you would like to know more about our bursary fund, please contact OB@barneyschool.org.uk.
