International Student Admissions

Students from abroad can expect a fully integrated experience with long-term international boarders rooming with British boarders to get the full British boarding experience. We want you to play a full role in all aspects of school life and contribute to our rich diversity.

Application process

Prospective international applicants are assessed either directly or via one of our agents or consultants.

For those families considering Barnard Castle School we request the following: A handwritten letter of application from the candidate – about 200 words in English to include details about why they want to study in England, what their extra-curricular interests are and, for Sixth Form candidates, their likely A level choices and the candidate’s last two school reports translated into English.

After reviewing this information, we will indicate whether or not we have a place available and will then invite you to send:

• A completed Registration Form
• A registration fee (£216 for non-UK passport holders)
• A copy of the candidate’s Birth Certificate or passport

We encourage families to visit the School for an interview where possible; however, candidates may be interviewed in their own country via Microsoft Teams or by telephone.
