Barnard Castle School is home to more than 50 children of serving Forces personnel. We have a long, proud history of supporting our Armed Forces with a stable, consistent and nurturing environment for military children.
At the heart of our pastoral support is the Barney Forces Family, which recognises the unique and challenging issues that having a parent or parents serving in the Armed Forces can create for your child.
The Barney Forces Family is there to build a supportive community for Forces children of all ages. It also helps to educate staff and non-military children about the particular challenges their peers face at times, such as a parent being deployed to active combat zones.
Forces children can take part in regular meet-ups, film nights and other events such as the Great Tommy Sleepout, where they build strong friendships and make lasting memories.
