Designed for international students aged 11–15, Barney’s Immersion Programme offers a genuine experience of British education and boarding life through a minimum two-week residential stay, with flexible options for longer placements. Students don’t attend a separate course; they become part of everyday life at Barney.

Academic immersion
Students join mainstream British curriculum lessons, learning naturally through discussion, collaboration, and classroom experience.
Alongside academic lessons, tailored EAL enrichment sessions help students strengthen spoken English, academic vocabulary, reading, writing, and listening skills, building confidence in an English-speaking school environment.
More than language learning alone, the programme helps students grow academically, socially, and personally.
The Barney Buddy Programme
At the heart of the immersion experience is the Barney Buddy Programme, one of the most valued parts of life at Barney.
Every visiting student is paired with a dedicated British boarder of a similar age, helping them settle quickly, build friendships, and feel immediately at home within the School community.
From lessons and boarding routines to activities and day-to-day life, Barney Buddies provide support, encouragement, and a true sense of belonging.
Beyond the classroom
Learning continues far beyond lessons through cultural excursions, weekend trips, and shared boarding experiences, giving students a broader understanding of British culture and community life.
