Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Following the decision by the Government to close all UK schools, Barnard Castle School will be closed from 5pm on Friday 20th March 2020 until further notice.

Lessons for the remainder of this term will be delivered online through our Remote Teaching and Learning Programme (see below). We will also make provision for pupils of key workers and vulnerable students.

Remote Teaching and Learning Programme

The Remote Learning Programme (RTLP) is designed to make learning from home as easy and effective as possible. We recognise the need for a clear and accessible approach for both the Prep School and the Senior School, and thus, the strategy for delivery has been differentiated. In the Prep School, teachers will communicate with pupils via email. In the Senior School, teachers will communicate via Microsoft Teams (and email as required).

Precise details of the programme are contained within the correspondence in the ‘Useful Resources’ section of this web page. Pupils in both schools have received instructions on how to access and use these programmes.

At Barney, we believe a child’s education goes beyond the classroom. We know that this will be a testing time for our pupils. We would like to reassure all our Parents/Guardians that we will continue to support the development of their children through our existing pastoral structures.

Communication

We will continue to communicate regularly with Parents/Guardians by email throughout the school closure with timely and informative updates.

Prospective Parents and Agents

Our Admissions office remains open and we are accepting applications for September 2020. However, please note we are unable to offer visits and site tours during this enforced school closure.

If you need to contact us, please email admissions@barneyschool.org.uk and our Registrar, Mrs Bronwyn Huddleston will get back to you. If you have a planned visit or tour scheduled, Mrs Huddleston will be in touch with you directly.

Currently there are no suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 within our community.
