ARTiculation

23 Jan 2019

The ARTiculation Prize is a nationally acclaimed annual event designed to promote the appreciation and discussion of art. The competition seeks to engage students aged between 16 -19 in full-time, further education, regardless of background or experience, with art and to develop their confidence and ability to express their opinions, thoughts and conclusions

All members of Lower Sixth Art were asked to submit a presentation as part of their pre-course submission.  They practised in front of their peers before presenting to a panel of adjudicators last term, comprising of David Cresswell (Sixth Form Head), Erin Beaty (English Lecturn Club) and Sarah Rothwell (Art). They then nominated Verity to represent the school at the Regional Heat in Newcastle.

The Baltic have been running the regional heats for the last 2-3 years.  The winners then go onto the National Heat held at Cambridge University.

Although Verity wasn’t placed, the adjudicator said that she was asking some very advanced, almost PHD level questions.
