A Christmas Concert

01 Dec 2017

On Wednesday 29 November 2017 Barnard Castle School provided a heart-warming start to the Christmas season by performing a concert of favourite carols and songs, both sacred and secular, played by the Wind band and Chapel Choir, in St Mary’s Parish Church, Richmond. The event was well-attended and many of the audience were impressed by the high standard of musicianship displayed by both ensembles and soloists. The choir sang works by John Rutter and Bob Chilcott, and the Windband played some favourite Christmas carols, as well as some spectacular arrangements of James Bond Themes, and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. Theo Truss played the theme from the ‘Pink Panther’, Evie Milbank sang John Ireland’s Spring Sorrow, Joseph Johnston gave a swinging performance of ‘Jingle Bells’ and Archie Coward opened the evening with a seasonal favourite ‘A Holly Jolly Christmas’. The event finished with a rousing sing from all the audience and choir of ‘O come all ye Faithful’. The concert was in aid of the St Mary’s Church Fund.
