Engineering Excellence

23 Nov 2017

Cameron (Lower Sixth, Dale) has been awarded the Arkwright Engineering Scholarship at a ceremony hosted at the Institute of Engineering and Technology in London earlier this month. The scholarship is one of the most prestigious of its kind in the UK, which aims to inspire the brightest post-16 students to be the future leaders of engineering in the country.

Every scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, trade association, university, professional institution, armed service, government organisation, worshipful company,  charitable trust or personal donor. This means that support is offered in various different ways, for example, valuable hands-on work experience, support for a curriculum project and a personal mentor who can help students with aspects of their studies and career planning.

Cameron received an endorsement from his teacher, Mr Beaty, and had to complete a two hour aptitude test, as well as a rigorous interview process lead by professionals from the sector. Everyone at Barney would like to congratulate Cameron on his achievement and hope that this will be an inspiration for others, but also a springboard for his future career.
