Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

06 Sep 2017

Each year Barnard Castle Rotary Club sponsor a young person to attend a week long leadership programme. The fundamental purpose of which is to connect with leaders in the local community, whilst developing problem-solving skills.  It is hoped the young person will acquire skills to help them grow as a dynamic leader whilst also having fun and forming lasting friendships.

This year, Tomas in Year 12, was put forward for the programme by the Rotary club having been interviewed at school.  Tomas spent a week at Kinsgway Activity Centre, after which he had to make a presentation about what he had learnt from his experiences to the Rotarians at their meeting in Barnard Castle. The whole District then met in Gateshead, including the group of 30 sponsored youngsters, to conduct a joint presentation on their combined experiences whilst on the leadership programme.
