University and Careers
In an increasingly competitive world we understand how important it is for our Sixth Formers to receive guidance to enable them to make informed choices about their future. Equipped with the most up-to-date technology and information, all our students are given expert advice on which university courses might best suit their individual needs. Every year the vast majority make it to their first choice university.
At the same time our careers section regularly arranges for students to meet and talk with people from a variety of sectors. We are constantly increasing our network of links with local businesses, parents and former pupils to provide excellent opportunities for high-quality work experience. Those who choose have a gap year are given professional guidance, and the Old Barnardian Association ensures that this support continues after the students have left.
"I really enjoyed my nine years at Barnard Castle School. I made some great friends and had very helpful, supportive teachers. I have particularly fond memories of playing rugby, especially at Twickenham. Currently I am studying Mathematics at Worcester College, Oxford, and hope to go on to a career in the financial sector."
