Summer Term Music
Both Senior and Prep Schools offer excellent ranges of extra-curricular activities to broaden the children's experience whilst having fun! A fantastic school, both of my girls can't wait to get to school on a morning!
Sue and Steve Bowen
The beginning of the summer term sees many of our musicians completing the practical requirements of their GCSE and A level courses.
There continue to be weekly musical events through the course of the term. Most recently these include the annual Instrumental and Singing Competition, the A2 musical recital, the Help for Heroes charity concert, the Junior Orchestra and Festival of the Arts, sponsored singing and CD launch for the Belgium music tour, the chapel choir singing evensong at Carlise cathedral, the choral society performing Mendelssohn's Elijah at the Bowes Museum, the Prep School Instrumental and Ensemble Concert, the Prep School Musical, separate organ and trumpet recitals by professionals in chapel, liturgical performance of Haydn's Maria Theresa Mass.
And every academic year ends with some of our musicians performing before parents at speech day.
Organ Recital
Assistant Director of Music Matthew Atherton performed an organ recital to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the refurbishment of the Chapel organ. A packed Chapel enjoyed his repertoire, which ranged from the classical to the very modern.
