Sports Studies / PE
If you've ever wondered why long distance runners and rugby players are rather different shapes, then a dose of academic P.E may be for you. If you want motivational techniques and have doubts about Tim Henman's doubts, P.E may come up with some answers. In a school full of games players of high quality, it is important to realise how the science of physical education has moved on. It's about thinking as well as games playing, about careful analysis alongside physical prowess. With staff who have impressive pedigrees in the real sphere of sport, and with close links to university research departments, P.E recruits well into GCSE and A level, delivering qualifications which have a wide currency in our body-conscious world.
This lively and enthusiastic department is well staffed having seven full time members and boasts a wealth of experience and expertise. All activities are taught on site as the school has a well equipped sports hall, an indoor heated swimming pool, outdoor tennis courts on the school’s astroturf surface and athletic facilities.
Our son went to Barney for 9 years. During his time there we felt that the whole person was valued with his academic strengths developed and his academic challenges addressed and supported'.
