Mr C Gregory - Head of Hockey Mr C Gregory - Head of Hockey Hockey is a successful sport at Barney. We run teams for girls and boys at each of the age groups on our excellent Astroturf pitch. Girls play in the Autumn Term, boys in the Spring Term.

We are currently one of the leading Hockey schools in the north of England. In recent years our girls 1st XI have been Northern finalists, and every year we have a number of County Durham players in the various age groups.

I am a Level 3 Hockey coach, and I am lucky to have former first class players to assist with the coaching of the teams. We also invite England players to run coaching clinics.

The ethos of the school’s Hockey coaches is that the sport should be both competitive and enjoyable. Hockey is coached twice a week during games and also during after-school activity time for team players. It is an excellent opportunity for students to learn new skills and to benefit from the camaraderie that only a team sport can bring, as well as learning the important art of sportsmanship.
