Mr B C Usher - Head of Cricket Mr B C Usher - Head of Cricket At Barnard Castle we offer cricket throughout the age ranges. Cricket at Barnard Castle is taken seriously but made enjoyable by our coaching staff who promote self expression and develop natural talent, and also encourage pupils to play in the correct spirit.

We run a 1st XI, 2nd XI, Under 15‘s, Under 14‘s, Under 13’s and Under 12’s programme. All teams have a competitive fixture list during the Summer Term. Quality coaching is provided during the Spring (indoor) and Summer Terms.

In recent years our 1st XI has enjoyed its best results in living memory, with back to back victories over the MCC and largely unbeaten seasons. Several boys play for Durham, and one has gone on to represent the North of England. Our tour to the Caribbean undoubtedly helped some of these boys develop as players. The visit of Sir Gary Sobers to the School also raised the game's profile.

Mr J Lister - Cricket Professional Mr J Lister - Cricket Professional We are lucky to have the services of John Lister, who was on the Derbyshire and Durham staff for several years. I was fortunate to play professional cricket and represent England Amateurs, and together with my colleagues I now enjoy seeing our pupils develop their skills at this wonderful game.
