Barney Friends - Senior School

The standard of education is high and Barnard Castle produces a safe and secure environment where all can learn without anxiety.

Who are Barney Friends?

Barney Friends was established in October 2005, initially in the Prep School, with the idea of bringing together parents across each year group and ultimately across the whole school for social events. It can be a daunting experience when your child joins a new school, after all, you are new too and at Barney Friends we want to make sure parents are made as welcome as the children. ‘Friends’ is run by parents for parents. What do we do?

Building on the ongoing success of Barney Friends in Prep School, we are keen to develop a vibrant community of Friends in the Senior School. The purpose of Barney Friends Senior School is to:-
• provide a network of support for each other as parents.
• organise social events where we can meet each other and have fun; and
• develop useful services such as Senior School second hand uniform and equipment shop.

This year we have organised a quiz night and a Year 7 mum’s dinner and organised refreshments at the Sports Day.

When do we meet?

We meet several times a term. Meetings will be advertised in the Barney Bulletin and on the website. Our meetings are usually in two parts - 9.00am at Nest in Nicholson Room for those who want to help organise events, followed by coffee at Nest in Newgate for those who want to stay and meet up for an informal chat.

It really is a great way to meet other parents, make new friends and we’re always open to new ideas.

If you would like to be involved but can’t make any of the meeting please get in touch with Heather Stevens on heatherstevens13@gmail.com

Meetings:

Thurs 17th November, 10.00am - West Park Cafe, Darlington
Thurs 8th December, Christmas Lunch, venue and time to be confirmed.
