Pastoral
Prep School has a wonderful family atmosphere; this provides a great environment for learning for the younger children.
Sue and Steve Bowen
"Pastoral care is excellent and pupils flourish in the supportive and understanding atmosphere of the school."
(Independent Schools Inspectorate 2011)
The pastoral care of each child is primarily the responsibility of the class teacher. They will quickly get to know every child in his/her care and help them in their academic and social progress. PSHE lessons and school assemblies play a vital role in the children’s welfare. The well-established 'Barney Way', evident around the school, helps show the children what is expected of them. The children know there is always someone they can always turn or talk to.
The Prep School publishes a weekly newsletter for parents to keep them informed of what is happening at school.
A social group for parents known as Barney Friends has been established to provide opportunities for existing and new parents to meet on a social basis.
Parents are encouraged to establish close contact with school to maintain the teacher/parent child link. There are two formal parent/teacher meetings during the year but teachers are always available to meet. A formal report is sent home at the end of each term.
