Music
Both Senior and Prep Schools offer excellent ranges of extra-curricular activities to broaden the children's experience whilst having fun! A fantastic school, both of my girls can't wait to get to school on a morning!

"The numerous musical groups and choirs are popular and perform regularly."
(Independent Schools Inspectorate 2011)
Music plays an important part of Prep School life under the watchful eye of our own Director of Music. Each class receives two music lessons as part of the curriculum, taken by qualified members of staff. One lesson is an instrumental class where pupils get the chance to learn the recorder, violin and a brass instrument. The other lesson is a combination of listening, composing and performing. Pre-Prep also receive two music lessons. Children learn the basic concepts of music as an expression and enjoy learning a variety of songs and music related games.
There are two choirs available to the children and membership of the Chapel Choir enables the children to sing in spectacular venues such as Durham Cathedral, York Minster and The Bowes Museum. Our House Musical Evening, Carol Services, weekly chapel services and termly concerts give the musicians an opportunity to perform before audiences of 300 as year groups or as the whole school.
Musical clubs include Chapel, Prep School and Harmony Choirs, Junior Orchestra, Recorder, Brass and String Groups.
There are opportunities for the children to have individual tuition* in any musical instrument and children are entered for practical and theory exams from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and London College of Music.
