We have had two sons, different in nature and outlook, through the prep and senior school and both have been given the opportunity to thrive at Barnard Castle School.'

The school Medical Centre, is conveniently situated adjacent to Prep School. With a visiting local GP running a daily surgery for the boarders’ needs, it is also open throughout the day for all the school’s day pupils.

This situation for Prep School is invaluable for all those little scrapes that are part and parcel of growing up as well as being on hand should there be anything more serious or a place to go for a quiet word or advice. A school counselor visits weekly for those who wish to confide with someone from outside the school.

Run by two qualified RGNs, both parents of children in the school, the Medical Centre or ‘San’ as it is affectionately known, is a vitally important part of a busy and active school.
