Barney Friends
We have been delighted with the friendly family atmosphere of the Prep School. Our son has thrived in a secure and encouraging environment and our younger son will join him in the summer.

We would like to offer parents a very warm welcome to Barnard Castle Prep School and Barney Friends.
The idea behind the " Friends" is to bring together and encourage social contact between parents within each class and year group and across the school itself. It can be a very isolating experience when your child joins a new school and we want to make sure parents are made as welcome as the children.
Information regarding events will be sent home with the Newsletter.
Each class/year has a parent representative who co-ordinates events. Recent social evnts have included:
- Coffee mornings
- Second hand clothing sales
- Christmas shopping evening at Thorpe Farm
- Christmas lunch at Bowes Museum
- A tour of Tenants Auction House
- Race for Life in Darlington
- Cricket match for the fathers
- Fund raising for the new Prep School Library
- A quiz night
Barney Friends have produced a school directory to enable parents to contact each other for social reasons such as invitations to tea, birthday parties, etc. (or forgotten prep!).
