Inspection Reports
Barnard Castle School has been praised for the outstanding care of its pupils following an inspection by Ofsted.
Barnard Castle School underwent a rigorous check by the school inspectorate Ofsted, which looked at 52 individual standards including the key criteria areas of student safety and wellbeing.
Deputy headmaster Oliver Marlow said: “We are delighted that the inspectors gave such a positive endorsement of the welfare provision at our school.
“Above all the report focussed on our boarding houses and we are thrilled that all the criteria of care were met and many of them exceeded.”
The school received an exceptionally high quality mark for two of the most important areas – protecting children from harm and helping them stay safe and helping children achieve and enjoy what they do. Both these were judged to be outstanding.
“It is pleasing to see that all our initiatives which ensure our pupils feel happy and safe at school were recognised,” added Mr Marlow.
Headmaster David Ewart said: “I am thrilled that Ofsted recognised how our school drives at all times to help pupils make the most of their talents in and out of the classroom.
“We try at all times to offer a happy and caring environment in which our pupils are given the chance to excel both inside and outside the classroom. As teachers we tend to spend much of our time marking and reporting on other people's work and it's great to receive such a glowing report ourselves.”
